First Egg Countdown

I managed to wait a whole 5 days after my first hen layed on Tuesday until I had enough little baby eggs to make it worth eating them. So here is our first egg breakfast :)

Pretty eggs!!!

I have 12 girls 20 weeks old today and only one laying. Since tues(day of 1st egg) Ive gotten 3 eggs it seems every other day. I have quite a while more before our family of 5 can have eggs for breakfast.

How was your breakfast?

Yes those eggs sure are pretty! You've got me all excited. My girls are 17 weeks old today, and though I don't expect my EEs to lay til the end of next month, I've got 2 Welsummers and 2 Cinnamon Queens that are lookin' like they might in the next week or two. I've heard the egg song once from one of each breed. I have to buy eggs today....

Let's hope it's the last time! ...Or next to last, I can live with that...

Hey guys, I'm back from vacation. We joined my DH on a business trip and the kids and I visited New York, New Jersey (where we stayed) and Philadelphia. Tiring, but fun trip...............except for getting lost in New York Penn Station, that wasn't so fun. For a small town girl, New York was quite a shock!

Anyhow, congrats to all of you getting eggs in the past week!

Momma, 24 week old Buff Orpington, gave me my first-ever egg!

I found it this morning in the nest box right next to the golf balls where it belongs. Her hatch mates started laying last week on the farm. Momma's egg was cool when I found it, so either she laid it yesterday or quite early this morning.I feel bad that I may have missed it last night because I didn't bother checking. Of course, if I had checked, like I usually do, there would not have been an egg, right?

I've got the day off today and so I'll check the nest every couple of hours so I know her pattern. That said, I shouldn't expect an egg today if she just laid last night, should I?

Her egg is about the size of a golf ball, but so much prettier!

We just got home from our county fair. My hens look good at 16 1/2 weeks. and still waiting for our first egg. I think one of my buff orps will lay first. Her waddles are more red and larger than the others. I Cant wait till we get that first egg. I will take some pictures and post today.
