And Gurti looks like she'll be your first one, Ruthanne. What a lovely flock of girls!
Medawinks, heat can affect laying, but it shouldn't impact it overly much (like stop them altogether).

Gerti and Pearl are the closest. You have a ways to go on the other 2.
medawinks........I have or have had all the breeds you do. Your BCM's will likely take the longest - I wouldn't expect eggs from them until about 24 weeks. I don't think the heat would be a big factor in young pullets, but it certainly is in older hens. You'll probably start getting eggs in the next couple weeks. You could also have the eggs or BBQ chicken talk with them.![]()
So now I have my SECOND egg from Momma, found two days later. Its just a tad larger. This time she made a BIG DEAL about it, knocking over the waterer and feeder, and squacking non-stop for fifteen minutes. Of course she had to be in violation of our noise bylaw. She laid the egg at 6:45 and quiet time goes until 7 am. I think my first two eggs need to go to the neighbours.Momma, 24 week old Buff Orpington, gave me my first-ever egg!
Awesomeness!

Ah... good idea.I ended up getting so tired of the 6:30 scream-fest that I put a water-gun on our patio table.
