First Egg Countdown

I got my first white egg today! She even used the laying box. This is four this week, one brown one was soft shelled though. The white was slightly bigger than the two brown ones. Brown 1 3/8 and white 1 5/8! I should get another brown one today, I think. She skipped yesterday after the soft one the day before.

HooooHooo!!! We go three eggs today! 1 small pinkish egg from my EE(her 2nd egg...one yesterday), 1 from my barred rock (her 2nd one) and 1 from my rhode Island Red (her 1st!) Wow, after 22 1/2 weeks we are finally in the egg making business! I can't get my work done because I am spending all my time watching my chickens! I am kind-of dissappointed that my EE didn't give me a green or blue egg! I really really wanted one. I have one more EE who hasn't laid yet, so hopefully she will give me a colored egg!

1st egg is from my RIR, 2nd from EE and 3rd from my Barred Rock!! Color isn't good. They are light brown, light pink and light brown.

One on left is from my EE, one on right is Barred Rock!

Wahoo
, I finally got an egg from my absolutely HUGE barred rock who was born in Feb. I was beginning to think she had a thyroid problem and would never lay. Her sisters ( who are much smaller) have been laying for 4-6 weeks now. I guess she heard us talking about BBQ or arroz con Pollo. Good news - she is a keeper.

Congrats everyone!

Congrats! I love my EE - she flies up onto my arm for treats. They sure know how to crank out eggs. My girl is slowing down now, as she's 3 1/2 years old. She still lays here and there though.

So, my EE started laying last Saturday. Like I said, I was a little disappointed that the eggs weren't blue or green. They are a light pale pink and they are really small....BUT, she has laid an egg every day since! 7 eggs in 7 days! wow! So, i have 4 more chickens who are 23 + weeks old who are still not laying. So today I have to go to the store and when I come back my husband tells me to go check the nesting boxes because he heard the egg song. So I run out there all excited because my 3 hens that are laying had already laid an egg and I was thinking that one of the others had had a first egg. So, I look in the nest and there is this HUGH hugh egg in there half buried under the shavings. So I'm thinking...OMG, this is hugh, it must be a triple yoker! And then I pick it up......and hear laughter as I discover the hugh egg was a large smooth oval shaped potatoe! Yes, DH was standing in the door laughing his head off! How mean can you get!!!! LOL! So check my signature to see where he rates today!
