If you have pictures, I can tell you if they are true ameraucana's or not. Where did you get them?Ok well I was told they were true ameraucanas so we will see when thy start laying again (they're molting almost done they squatted the other day not really sure what that means when molting so)
Congrats!Monday I found my first two eggs. 3 of my girls started laying within 2 days. I'm up to 10 eggs! I never imagined several would start as much. I think I'm going to save next weeks eggs to hatch!
Getting closer!Ladies and gentlemen my ee just squatted for me. I am a happy girl. I have no idea if she has layed an egg yet but I did get an orange egg today. It's not really pink or brown. It's orange. Maybe its the satsumas I've been feeding them? Nevertheless she squatted! !!!!
Congrats!
Pretty eggs. Nope, not a thing you can do, other than make sure they have food and water. Eggs have a high water content, so if your birds run out of water at any time, it will affect your egg count. But otherwise, you just have to wait until their bodies are mature enough to lay.Is there anything I can do to get the rest of my girls going? Even though they are all the same age, I still have only one of seven chickens laying! We are at 25 weeks at this point.GlaDOs,the cuckoo maran's lovely dark eggs

Midget laid her second egg this morning. Her first egg was 2 days ago. This one is also green, abit bigger and with less blood spots. I've also noticed that one of my roosters is very protective of her and doesn't leave her side. So cute! He's also the one that I've seen her mate with. Last night he was even sitting in her nesting box. Weird. Thought he was keeping an egg warm, but no egg then. He was just sitting there.
My other hens are very curious with her now too. Can't wait to see the variety of colors I'll get!
I second this question. My EE are nearly 20 weeks old and don't seem close. I want some color in my basket!Congratulations! Those are so beautiful, I'm super jealous! At roughly 20 weeks, My EE does not lay yet.
How old is Midget?
Don't overload them with treats, but the feed you are giving is fine. Extra protein won't hurt. If your milk starts to sour, or even if it is sour, you can give that to them. Crock pot juices, meat scraps, leftovers that are old (but not moldy). They are pigs with feathers. Once a week I clean out my fridge and make a bowl of stuff for them.Thank you, Happy Chooks. May I check with you and make sure I am feeding them properly for laying? They eat Purina Layena and have access to plenty of fresh water. For treats, I give them a bit of scratch in the morning, maybe some dry oatmeal, which they LOVE, sone grapes, then miscelleneous scraps here and there. For example, they had the rest of a bag of spring mix salad one day, strawberry tops and leftover parmesan polenta another day. Would they benefit from more protein? Thanks a lot!
Congrats!
