First Egg Countdown

I adopted a Silkie a week ago. Today she laid her first egg at my place. Here is a picture of her and the egg. Egg size is not too bad for a Bantam.

Princess Bubble Gum's egg is to the right. Its not as pink in real.
oh my goodness! it's so pink!! I love it!
perfectly fitting name for her, too!

Aww! What a beautiful chicken, and egg! Congratulations!

We've been getting 6-10 eggs a day for a little while, and after watching the girls while free-ranging, I noticed that they were going to hang out under a pile of lumber that we have up on blocks. I went to check out what was going on today and found this stash under there. The eggs in the bowl are the ones gathered from the nesting boxes and the ones on the counter were found under the lumber. Little sneaks! lol!

We have 13 pullets right now and one cockerel. They're all Silver Spangled Hamburgs. Once they got going, they really are great layers!

Edited to add: Some of those eggs on the table are from the last few days, they didn't lay all of those in one day (I hope)! Lol!

Oh wow are the loud also how many eggs do u average a day? they sound like a great breed to have I might even want some!

They are pretty loud, I'm glad we live in the middle of nowhere, because I know we would have complaining neighbors if we had any close by. When the egg laying is commencing everyone gets in on the eggsong, even the roo. Lol!

They are around 8 months old right now, and the last week or so we've been getting an average of 8 eggs a day. A couple of them just started laying and I think there may be one who hasn't laid yet at all.

ETA: I don't know how loud they are compared to other breeds, I guess I should say they are noisy. They like to talk a lot and it sounds loud when they all get going, but if you just had a couple it might not be that bad.
