First Egg Countdown

My DH is looking at me crazy because I keep lifting up the tail feathers and checking vent status on my girls. Waiting on one ore of my over 20 wk old girls to lay.

I'll be back in the countdown again with the girls in the brooding pen who are 3 weeks old.

I'm anxiously waiting on 2 20 week old welsummer pullets. It will probably be another month, but I can't wait to see their egg color. Then I have another pullet that is 3 weeks younger.

My 18 week plus 3 day old EE, laid her 1st egg today, this cute little green egg. This is my 3rd egg since my White Leghorn laid her 2nd egg today too. Now if I can just get them to use the nest box.

We got our first two eggs today!!! I was so beside myself excited

Our four buff orpingtons are 19 weeks and these were in two seperate nesting boxes so I'm assuming they're from two different girls. We also have 6 girls that are 12 weeks so will be anticipating their first eggs in a couple months!

I have a dilemma! I want to put the fake eggs back into the nest boxes as our BO are getting close to laying. The issue is my two BF keep trying to go broody and it really helped when I took the fake eggs out. What should I do? I don't want broody hens. I think 23 chicken is enough in our 50x150 back yard. (There is poop everywhere!!!!)

You can leave the fake eggs out. If anyone else is laying, they will show the newbies where to lay.
