First Egg Countdown

My barred is acting really lazy the last two days I don't know if its cause she's going to lay or what anyone else experience this?

Hard to say. Could be she's getting ready to lay, could be that it's hot. My birds when they are going to lay get really vocal and pace back and forth to the nest box.

Any other symptoms you can think of would help. Is she puffed up looking? How is her poop? Anything that looks like paralysis?

I have 3 sets of hens. my first set are about 15 months old, second set about 10 months old and third set are 26_27 weeks old. I put them ask together about 3 months ago and everything was fine. about 4 weeks ago egg production suddenly stopped. Younger chicks still have not laid thirty first egg yet and now none of them are laying.(26hens) and No eggs for 4 weeks! What could be wrong?I moved my younger 26_27 week hens to a separate pen today to see if that will help. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

That certainly is strange. Can you post some pictures of the chicken and the coop? Are they getting enough sunlight? Do they look sick or are normal? Have you checked for lice or mites on their bodies or in the coop? Here is a helpful article about it:

My silly birds! I posted earlier that they were kicking all the shavings out of the nest boxes. Happy Chooks says they're practicing. So I decided to put some hay back in the boxes figuring it will make for better nesting. Few hours later I went out just to check, HAY EVERYWHERE. LOL silly birds aren't gonna have anything to lay an egg on if they keep that up. No eggs yet. Still watching.

Your 15 month old birds should be starting their molt. Are you seeing lots of feathers around?

I have a few that will scrape the nest box down to the wood. They are overachievers in nesting.

I had the same problem....I found that pine needles did the trick. I tried wood shavings, wheat straw and finally tried pine needles...they have not kicked it out one time and my one little hen has been laying in the pine needle filled nest 18 of the last 21 days...she is the only one laying yet out of 16 BO's all hatched the same day. They are 21 weeks old today and she has been laying since she was 18 weeks old to the day.
