First Egg Countdown

This was actually funny, all 4 peeps including Bill came up to see what I was doing. They come up when I clean too. They want to find out what I'm doing. I expect it all comes with waiting for the egg. I think bill actually hearses the girls up one day.

ok don't want to hog the forum by too many posts, but have a couple of questions:

1. My SLW started laying a week ago. She laid a really tiny egg. 28 gm only. I thought just the beginning but its day 7 today and she still laid a 32 gm egg. I have researched all over the net and her egg can't even be classified as a pullet or a peevee egg (its below the threshold of 35g). Is it possible that she may always lay that size? Here is a pic for comparison:

Left to Right:

1. SLW-Mable 32g
2. Production Red-Tree-Trunks 42g (Peevee)
3. ISA Brown-Pepe-54g (Medium)
4. ISA Brown-Marcy-64g (Large)

Here is the American egg classification for reference:

Modern Sizes (USA)
Size
Mass per egg
Cooking Yield (Volume)[2]
Jumbo
Greater than 2.5 oz. or 71 g
Very Large or Extra-Large (XL)
Greater than 2.25 oz. or 64 g 56 mL (4 tbsp)
Large (L)
Greater than 2 oz. or 57 g 46 mL (3.25 tbsp)
Medium (M)
Greater than 1.75 oz. or 50 g 43 mL (3 tbsp)
Small (S)
Greater than 1.5 oz. or 43 g
Peewee
Greater than 1.25 oz. or 35 g

Happy Chooks!

Do Koko-The Australorp or Scarlet-the GLW look any closer to laying? They are the only ones who have not laid one yet

Juni - her eggs will get larger. It's a very gradual process, and if you are not weighing them, you likely won't notice it much. Then when she goes through her first adult molt, you may see another big jump in size. (this is when my BR went to Jumbo sized eggs)

How old are Koko and Scarlett? Neither of them look red enough to be laying really soon. Maybe 2-3 weeks still? Koko looks like she'll be before Scarlett.

My two older ladies. No eggs yet... but look at that bright redness!
Maybe it's just sun burn. :-/
