First Egg Countdown

Walked to the coop today and my BR that I didn't think was laying (but she looked like it was any day now) was in the nest box. I went back inside finished cooking my fried eggs, ate, then when I went back outside and found a pink egg that was the largest that I've gotten so far. I wonder if she has been laying or if possibly she just won't lay small eggs at first like the other one did when she first started laying? The first one started laying about 3-4 wks ago and for the past two weeks I've been getting 1 egg everyday with only one day off.....haven't gotten a small egg since the first one started laying....and no eggs on the ground like when the first one started laying. This egg was laid in a different nest box than the first one usually lays in. I've noticed this next box where I found the egg has been messed with for the past 2-3 days so I put a fake egg in it. Guess the first one could've gotten in there and layed before the second one was attempting. Guess I'll know for sure when I get two eggs on the same day....

This is Spock our EE (I think) we don't know what she is but when do EE's start laying?

What a hoot of a hen!! Love it. My one and only EE started laying at 20 weeks. We were like you, just dying to know what color she'd lay. She lays a beautiful green egg. I have noticed, though, it has lightened in color since her first month of laying. She still adds color to my egg cartons and I wouldn't mind a few more of these next year.:D

She is definitely one of a kind!! But we love her and glad she turned out to be a she and not a he

Finally got my first egg 3 days ago from one of my Golden Comets that squatted the day before her first egg! They were exactly 20 weeks old and I had been waiting for what seemed like forever for them to start laying. She's been giving one small egg a day since and the other golden comet and one of my RIR have both squatted for me this morning and have noticeably bigger and brighter combs from the other 3.
I had to buy a dozen eggs at the store last night, I'm hoping it's the last!
