Hi, everyone. I've been reading this thread for awhile now and I am in the "patiently (not) waiting game", lol.
I thought I would post some pictures to see what everyone thought after seeing my chickens. To me they look very ready, but no eggs
I have 6 Buff Orps, 1 rooster and 5 hens. The rooster was not intended but for now we are keeping him. I'm not sure if I will keep him forever, I guess it depends a lot on how he behaves. I don't want to have to watch my back every time I'm in the coop or run. I am not in a frame of mind to eat him and if I did get rid of him I would like for him to go somewhere where he could be a rooster and not someones dinner. He has just started to mate, yesterday was the first time I witnessed it.
They are hatchery Buffs. Here are some pics, what does everyone think?
This is the "slowest" of the girls. "bitty" because she was smaller than everyone else. Her comb was very light pink until just a few days ago and now its starting to redden up. I always figured she would give me eggs last.

Their combs and waddles don't look as red as they really do. I thought I captured them pretty well in the photos but now in the post it doesn't seem so. Anyway, does anyone think I'll be seeing eggs soon, even at this time of year now?
They will be 27 weeks tomorrow.
Thanks in advance
