First Egg Countdown

I have 5 hens that are old enough to lay. 2 have & switch back & forth. One egg a day. My other 3 are just taking their sweet ole time. I got them at a few days old on May 11th. Come on! That's 6 and a half months ago! No eggs. Really? Did I pick broken hens?

On my watching list!!
Getting close!

Thank you! It's hard to believe Sophie is not laying yet... 31 weeks and no squatting. Sigh... they say patience is a virtue!
She should be laying any time now. I hear you on patience, I'm still waiting on my 36 week old barnevelders.

It's not unusual for it to take a bit longer for them to start up with the shorter daylight hours. You can't shake or squeeze it out of them (as much as I'd like to sometimes), so we all have no choice but to be patient.

My flock of 15 hens are all 16 weeks and no eggs yet. I see indentations in the nesting boxes so maybe we are close!!! I am figuring the daylight change might be part of the cause. I am patient.

So my BSL has stopped laying.... Her comb is like tilted to one side instead if straight like the others anyone know why she's stopped????

My BO Jenny squatted today! Her comb looked even redder than yesterday. I think they are all in cahoots and decided they will all lay eggs together. They do everything else together why not lay their eggs at the same time. I just hope they don't wait until Henrietta is ready. She is the youngest at 19 weeks. Congrats on all the patient hen watchers that received their room and board in eggs this week!

My hens have all seemed to slow down now, with less light in the day.
They are at around half production. It's possibly the change in day length that is affecting your BSLs laying too.
Of course it's always possible she has a secret stash hidden somewhere

How is she acting?
Does she seem frantic or in pain, is she eating and drinking okay?

Hopefully, it's just the weather.
If she seems in distress though, you may want to try the warm bath thing. I've also heard cayenne pepper mixed into food helps with laying problems.
