First Egg Countdown

@westindy - Congrats on your first egg!!!! I have two utility layers that are leghorn crosses. They are called long lays by their breeder & have less black colouring but are just starting to grow their wattles & get red combs. I'm so excited. Any day now I might find an egg that will look just like yours : )

Our 22 week EE laid her first egg yesterday. It was small, as most first eggs are, but with a firm shell. It was a beautiful shade of green. I'll post a picture on Monday. My son was thrilled!

I'm waiting for my 3 RSLs! I have the 18 wk. point marked on my calendar...July 14th! Surely the won't make wait longer than that! Also have 7 others...EEs I guess...but their eggs aren't "due" until about Aug. 18th!


When I got them - 1 wk.old

4/19 - 6 wks.


This morning - 15 wks.

You are almost there. You will get a lot of eggs out of those girls - hybrids are great layers!

On Monday three will be 17 weeks old
Barred rock, australop and EE
My ideal 236 will is 11-12 weeks old

I have 6 16 week old pullets but i don't know the breed... also I have 12 other pullets that I dot know the breed yet but they are just a a week or two behind the first 6.... and finally i have 4 pullets that were bought the day before Easter!! I'm sooo excited to get the first egg hopefully it will be soon!!

The barred rock looks very ready to lay, the EE is very close too. Pretty girls!

Thanks I think pepper ( barred rock) will lay soon. I did the who pelvic bone test and hers were seperated 3 days ago
