LOL! Too funny! My Barred Rock has been laying for a week now and she is SOOOOOOO helpful. At least she thinks she is! She not only announces HER egg, but everyone elses! LOL! She will walk around the coop and sit inside it while the others lay their eggs and squak and bawk the whole time! We pick her up every once in a while to get her to stop, but it's just too funny! She has even gotten INTO the nest while others are laying....for support I guess?? HAHAHAHA!

I think but am not sure, but I think one of the twins was practicing this afternoon when we were getting ready to leave. This would be the first time I ever heard here make a noise.

Congratulations to everyone starting to get some eggs!!
Now that I'm done waiting on the 20-something week olds to lay, I got my Marans starting to grow bigger wattles/comb and getting redder in the face. She's only 18 weeks old but hopefully in the next couple of months she'll be laying - so I'll be back in this thread!

So.... I don't know if this necessarily follows the topic of the thread, buuut since I'm OP, I'm going to cheat and say this is on topic

I put it next to a store-bough x-large egg, and next to Ophelia's first egg.

I'm still waiting on my three Dominique pullets. Who are now 25 weeks old. All three red in the face. At least one has been "had" by the rooster. I actually segregated them in a smaller coop this evening so they won't feel threatened by the older girls...The big girls don't like to share the nests...hoping if my 3 pullets have their own coop and box maybe the process will HURRY UP!!!

Delaware and Rhode Island are 24 weeks young and my Ameraucana is 23 weeks young

Yippee!.. Today, July 24 @ 08:00 am PDT, upon checking my coop found on small brown egg on the floor of my coop.

Then at 16:00 hours found another small brown egg in the nest.

I assumed that my Delaware laid both eggs. Between the first egg and the second, I startled the Delaware sitting in the nesting box. Could the Delaware be responsible for both eggs?

See egg on the right side on the floor?

The second egg was found in the nest.

Two eggs compared to Trader Joe's eggs.

I also created a new page to document my first eggs.

I am also curious why they are so small. Any thoughts?
