I have really enjoyed the stories and pics! For those of you still waiting, hang in there! Those first eggs are definitely worth the wait.

Wowsers! I come back to lots of pretty first eggs! I love the pics everyone, thanks for sharing your first eggs with us!!

I have officially not frozen to death, been eaten by bears, fallen into a guyser, or been chased by an elk. I call my trip a success for a first time greenhorn camper!

And don't lose hope, everyone who is still waiting. Some hens will lay in winter despite the colder weather. I know my Golden Comets aren't losing a step at all in their stride.

Welcome home Pele, sounds like you had a great trip. I loved Yellow Stone and love camping in general.

I'm waiting for a little chocolate egg from my marans, she's just a couple days shy of 22 weeks now. I sure hope the fall weather isn't going to shut down her egg machine before her first egg! I've put a light in the coop for evenings now, I hope it helps!

Beautiful! What kind of chickens do you have? I love those darker brown ones. I was hoping for that kind of contrast with my Cuckoo Marans, but so far only one of them is laying. Her eggs are beautiful, but they aren't that dark at all.

I don't know who laid the dark one - I think the only birds laying are the Rhode Island (or production) Reds. The Barred Plymouth Rocks are showing an interest in the nests, but doubt they have laid any yet. We also have EE's and Polish but they aren't even interesting to the roosters, yet

All chickens are 20 weeks today.

Thanks CarolynF and Happy Chooks, we had a blast

I think you're a saint Happy Chooks. I'd be a raving mess if my girls had held out on me for 29 weeks

Alright, people, how do you keep from going crazy during the wait? My birds are 19 weeks old. I hadn't seen any signs of laying until one started practicing her egg song today. Now I know I'm going to be running over to check for eggs every five minutes. (With my luck, I'll be doing so for the next several weeks...)
