First Egg Countdown

I still don't have any eggs but I am getting a lot of walking done by going and checking. My coop is about 100 ft from the back door so I am out there about 10 times a day but as it get colder I am not going as much. My girls are from 12 weeks to over 20+ weeks with a lot of gents in there too.

Well apparently, according to Happy Chooks, you can't deal with the wait by squeezing it outta them

Maybe you can take the time-honored approach of reading a chicken cookbook to them.

that is the idea but I have 9 or so roosters due to go to freezer camp in the next few weeks.

Hi, Y'all, After reading all your stories I consider myself very lucky. My four hens (RIR/Ameraucana mix) were born the weekend before Easter (April 24?) and I've been getting an egg or two every other day. I have received a total of 12 as of yesterday - my first dozen!

Hmm, perhaps, but that seems like drastic measures to me. For now, I bought a dozen eggs from the people up the street, then firmly told the birds that all the money I spend on eggs from other chickens is money I could be spending on treats for them.

If they're still not laying once that's sunk in, then I'll break out the cookbook.

Ack! I have 8 pullets, 5 of which are 24 weeks today. No eggs to be seen. There's a Welsummer, 2 EEs ("Ameraucanas", but likely not), a Speckled Sussex and a Polish. My partner won't stop teasing me about it. Where are my eggs?

We got one egg today - after two days of 2 eggs each, I was a little disappointed

How quickly I'm accustomed to seeing a cute little egg in the nest.

One of them lays before 9:30 am, and the other has been laying in the pm. Not sure what happened to the dark brown layer. Yesterday I heard the egg song, went out and opened the egg door - she looked at me like she was caught doing something wrong!

only bad thing my 19 week old RIR laid it in the poop catcher hanging under the roosts!

oh well, the dh and I will share it this weekend! If she does it again I will take down the poop catcher until she lays in the nest box.

Thank you!!!!!!! I am surprised the other 15 pullets didnt try to eat it. I built their nest box by hand last weekend, cause i knew they couldn't fit their fat fluffy butts in the 5 gal buckets.
