Where did you get mille fluer ones? And such nice quality!

Thank you, I got them from a member on BYC who is also my kids 4-H leader. They have the sweetest disposition and are just beautiful in person. So soft, fluffy and smooth. I love to watch them running around the yard.

See the pretty blue chicken?

Right before I went to work (literally on the way out the door, no time to post), she squatted!!!

So, um, eggs tomorrow??? Please?? Can she skip the week to two weeks of squatting before laying???

Can you tell I'm kind of excited? It'll be my first time seeing an egg that wasn't in the grocery store.

but I have BPRs that have been squatting f o r e v e r and still no eggs. No rushing mother nature, but I understand your impatience as it was not long ago I was in the same place.

My Agnes, JG, who just laid her first egg on Friday, (which was World EGG Day!!!), had been squatting for about a week. I was as excited as you sound. I was also confused since JGs are supposed to be slowest to mature, and yet she was my first to lay. Go figure. But she had also been very, (I mean VERY) vocal for several weeks, and she has the biggest bright red comb & wattles of my whole little flock. (SLW, BLRW, & BO). Don't know if this is encouraging or depressing, but hopefully your wait won't be too long now!

28 weeks and I finally saw a Welsummer in a nest box adjusting straw! My EE Gertrude did this for a couple of weeks before she laid but maybe, just maybe, this Wellie is going to lay soon?! I'm pretty sure it's the same one I saw snuggling up to Clark and preening his neck...

Grats Crazyhen!!! You should be proud of being so patient.... I was roundly cursing my EE when she took that long.

And hang in there, everyone who has squatters! They'll be laying soon enough, just keep reading chicken recipes to them

Look what I found this morning! And judging by the noise while I uploaded the photos, more ladies are laying! The blue egg is a first for one of my Americaunas. It was on the poop deck, however - hard to believe with all the laying going on that she didn't figure it out. Also, check out the tiny egg! I saw a RIR in the nest, but there were two eggs when she left - one big one along side the tiny one. And check out the op art egg!

I have 3 Black Stars and 3 Australorps. My black stars have been laying since 18 weeks. My Australorps were born a month behind and get most of the pecking. yhey just did not seem to take off like the Stars. They were 24 weeks yesterday and not a single egg yet. The girl I got them from (same age as mine) have been laying for several weeks to a month. Not sure the problem. Maybe I am just too anxious. Don't think there would be something wrong with all three. They appear to be very healthy. One has a bigger and very red comb and waddle. The others are coming along, but not as much. I check the yard, but have never found any sign of an egg. Any thoughts?
