I was beginning to think I had all non-laying pullets. My 3 "big girls" (a BO, a BR, and a SLW) were hatched the 1st week in March. They've all developed nice grown-up looking combs and wattles in the last couple weeks, and they're trying out their big girl voices. The kids and I have been going egg hunting through the yard every day for the last 2 weeks looking, but with no luck.
Until tonight! There it was, right in the nest box...a perfect (if darn small) brown egg. I didn't know who left it, so all the girls got to celebrate with mealworms.
We scrambled the egg, and each had a bite. SOOO much more yellow and flavorful than store eggs!
Anyway, just thought I'd share. A happy day here in Eatonville.
