I was beginning to think I had all non-laying pullets. My 3 "big girls" (a BO, a BR, and a SLW) were hatched the 1st week in March. They've all developed nice grown-up looking combs and wattles in the last couple weeks, and they're trying out their big girl voices. The kids and I have been going egg hunting through the yard every day for the last 2 weeks looking, but with no luck.

Until tonight! There it was, right in the nest box...a perfect (if darn small) brown egg. I didn't know who left it, so all the girls got to celebrate with mealworms.

We scrambled the egg, and each had a bite. SOOO much more yellow and flavorful than store eggs!

Anyway, just thought I'd share. A happy day here in Eatonville.

Good for u :) I'm still waiting for my babies (only 13-12 weeks) to lay 2 ees and 1 glw and 1 slw lol still along time to go... I just really wanna try a farm fresh egg :/

Both my Barred Rocks layed an egg today for the first time. One did have a dud the other day not sure which one but these were the first real eggs with a shell. Small and thin shelled but eggs. The are 20 weeks. I have two EEs and they are the same exact age but have not layed yet.

Yes! It was like magic, finding food in the chicken coop. WAY better than anything I'd found in the chicken coop before this! I think my son has already checked the coop about 3 times this morning (nothing yet, but yesterday's came in the afternoon.). Anyway, we're having fun!

My EE's are dropping them any old place and they are breaking. They just started laying so the eggs are thin. My BRs started last week and always lay in the boxes. Hmmmm.....
