No sure if this is where I should post this but I had a surprise in the coop today. Me and my kids seem to be the only ones excited about it. My husband is just like yeah that’s what they do. 😑

I had noticed that the nesting material was thrown around in the coop. So I went to investigate. Upon poking my head in I figured they just threw it around because I pushed the curtains up. Well to my surprise there was a brown egg in the nest box!! I didn’t think I would be this excited. I knew I had two girls that were close but I’m not sure who laid it. I was beginning to wonder if I should look under the coop for eggs.

Buttercup, Honey and their egg. I think Honey is the one that laid it. She’s the RIR with the bright red comb.

Woot woot!

OMGOSH Congrats how many hens do you have?
Currently I have 9 standard size hens. In the spring I’ll be getting more because I also two roosters. Well three if I count the one in with my silkies. But they’re like a separate flock that just lives with my standard size birds.
My olive eggers will be next to lay. I have three of those. They’re only 18 weeks though so awhile yet.

I’m so glad I posted. I was debating it because everyone around here was just so blah about it. But you guys made me smile so big reading your replies. So glad some people understand!
