First egg from our Ideal welsummers. 2nd egg today... [updated pics]

I think the REAL question is.......do they TASTE the same as a breeder quality Wellie?

They are very pretty eggs.

I was doing a search on what age Welsummers lay and came across this post.

Lovely egg! I had a speckled one the other day...I have no idea who it's from, but

I love speckled eggs! Of course, the kids ATE it right away.

Apparently the speckles make the eggs taste better??

Anyway, I had asked if they got it out of my Welsummer pen, but they didn't. I know sometimes they lay speckled eggs. Mine is from a breeder, but as you saw in your pics, they sometimes start out light and get darker.

She is 6 months and I am getting anxious! The roo is doing the egg song, but she has no interest.

Everytime I hear that coming from their pen, I run outside and he's singing away! LOL!

I just wanted to tell you that I love the speckled eggs, too. I'm hoping whoever layed mine will continue!

I've got 2 or 3 other pullets (BO, BR/leghorn mix, and Cinnamon Queen) that are the possible culprits. I even considered the guineas! LOL! I guess it will remain a mystery.

Congrats on the beautiful egg! As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

I love a colorful egg basket, too!

So far we've got 11 eggs, most around the same shade as the darker of the two eggs posted earlier. Most of them are speckled, but some are just plain brown. Here's a pic of the first 6 with a few "regular" brown and white eggs. Also, here are a few of my wellie girls.

Yes, there are bantam welsummers, but I don't know where you get them. I have also read that they don't lay the terra cotta eggs. But I bet if they look like little versions of my girls, they're beautiful. I sure love my wellies.

Bantam welsummers are in the works, and very hard to come by. I believe EweSheep has some, and I read just yesterday that there are only 5 breeders in the country with them.
ETA: those eggs are nice! You see? I told you they would get darker! Very nice
