first egg layed

well i can tell you now them chickens are not RIRs lol and their comb is so small. mine look like their head exploded on fire and are huge combs. also in the last 3 weeks they went from slender to big puff balls. lol that is really awesome. are you going to eat them? I took my first 3 eggs and drilled tiny holes in the top and bottom, emptied them out and super glued them to my coop as trophies of my lil girls. yes im a nerd sue me :p

Definitely not ameracaunas I would venture a guess that their australorps it's a breed my tractor supply carries frequently during chick days and they look alot like them. The light brown egg is also an indicator.

really. the lady at tractor supply told me ameraucana. hmm oh well they are pretty girls, but kinda would of liked to know the correct breed lol

Do they look like this?

ok good to know. atleast I know what they are for sure now. the lady at tractor supply told me ameraucana
That’s really unfortunate chickenmomma.
The fact that they weren’t even EE is pretty pathetic. :barnie
It’s a story that many others have also been through with them.
I highly recommend visiting the BYC breed reviews and/or hatchery websites and familiarizing yourself with breed descriptions and photos.
You can even order free catalogs from them.
This book is an excellent reference for poultry breeds, colors and patterns:

But the Ameracauna/EE thing is an ongoing issue among hatcheries and feed stores.
And the fact that they can call something what it isn’t is endlessly frustrating. :he
This might be helpful:

However, you have some beautiful Australorps there and they are well known as excellent layers! :celebrate
