First egg on the floor

Poor Summer. She was going to do it again on the floor.
I tried to put her in a nesting box but she would not stay.
I put her back in and blocked the nesting box entrance with a piece of plywood.
After 5 minutes, I removed the plywood. She settled inside the nesting box this time and laid an egg within a few minutes.
I hope she learned something today.

After training her to use the nesting box once, she laid an egg in the box today. Good girl!
Good to hear - sometimes new layers need a bit of help figuring out where to lay. You tried the method I use, but when she didn't stay in, boarding her in for a bit did the trick!
