Summer finally laid her first egg but on the coop floor.
She was standing by the waterer, drinking and laying an egg.
I've never seen her playing around/inside the nesting boxes.
I am not sure if she would continue to do this. She is at the bottom of pecking order.
I had to come home from work to collect the egg because they already ate one last week, and I didn't want them to build a bad habit.

Yeah, I hope she'd figure it out soon. I gotta lower the nesting box entrance for easy access. I just made it 3.5 inch higher a few days ago because they were spreading pine shavings.

I was monitoring her to see how she'd lay all morning because she skipped yesterday.
Hmm, she was trying to lay in the dust bath container outside the coop so I put her back in the coop but she laid her second egg on the floor again.
What should I do? Should I add curtains to the nesting boxes?

She will figure it out…. Leave a golf ball or something in the box if you are quick to grab eggs out.
