my silver spangled Hamburg is really close to her first egg... her comb and wattles have come in nicely, and a lovely shade of red. She keeps going into the nest boxes and checking them out, talking to herself about them and the fake eggs in there. Usually, when I get home from work one of the first things I do is check the boxes, and periodically on the weekends. My question is this: what time of day did your first egg come?

I think the very first egg we ever got was laid in the morning - maybe around 10 am if I'm remembering right.

But I can't say most have a pattern when it comes to the first egg...some lay it early, others later in the afternoon. So it just depends on the individual.

Hope you get that first egg soon! They're very exciting! Pics are welcome too. ;)

Once I get an egg... I will be taking a pic to post!! My son thinks I'm nuts though. Lol when I told him that he wasn't allowed to eat the first egg at least until I saw it, if he found it first. Lol
