Hey Everyone. Just got my first egg today!
Have a few questions that can hopefully be answered. My boyfriend and I are first time chicken owners. I have 5 White Leghorn ' s that will be 18 weeks on Sunday. I got the very exciting news at work today that we received our first egg. Apparently the girls were SUPER loud! I get it's the first egg and , but will they be super loud very time? And if so, is there a way to train them to be quieter. I'm also curious now that one of them has laid if the other four will closely follow. They all seem to be squatting, checking out the nesting boxes, etc...
and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on that first egg! Very pretty one! Leghorns are really good fairly early layers, so would expect the rest of them to follow suit in the next couple of weeks. The girls usually do seem to get at least somewhat quieter with the egg song as they get older, some hens are just really proud of their eggs though.
