First Egg With Picture and Questions

Here it is. My very first.
My Buff Orpy laid it on the floor.
Can I put it in the nest so she can "smell" her way to the nest box?
I already have fake eggs in there but I never see her go in there.

She'll figure it out. You can put the egg in there if you want to, but I don't think it matters. Are your other hens using the nest boxes?

My first egg was this morning too and on the floor. I'm hoping that as they get used to laying they'll use the box.

My first few were on the floor too but she figured it out on her own. Now she lays them in the spot of her choice all the time, same spot everytime. I can't remember how she got started laying in her spot though. I don't recall training her to do it. Maybe I left an egg in it until she layed again....??

I only have one other hen...same age (20 wks) and she is not laying yet.
