Welllllll about that. It is so precious to me that I havn't done anything with it. I was thinking about blowing the yolk out (by poking little holes in the top and bottom and blowing in one until the yolk comes out) and then keeping the shell but I am not sure... Pic coming soon.

My husband is insisting that we do this for the first egg from each of our 7 girls- he's very sentimental! At least we get to eat the eggs AND we can still show them off!

But how will you tell which one layed which?

Only the oldest 4 have laid so far and 3 have made their presence in the nesting box obvious. They have mostly spaced out their first egg so that each girl's first was an event. The 4th one laid on the same day as #3, but outside of the boxes. I guess if we had a few more chickens we wouldn't be able to tell whose is whose.

Ahhhhhh the first egg!! So awesome. I remember my first egg. But with no bator I did not know what to do w ith it. If I could have dipped it in gold, I would have. I thought of emptying it and putting it on a shelf but them it seemed sad. So before I could make a final decision, my husband cooked it by accident. I was bummed all day....

Eat that egg. It will be the best tasting egg ever!

Then feed the shell back to the chickens. I'm all about recycling. Sentimental, not so much.
