Had three more eggs in the bottom of the coop that I hadn't noticed when I started this thread they're kind of small but we're super super excited it's pretty crazy to be so excited over an egg

Just wondering how long will they be OK if I don't get them within an hour or two and put them in the fridge or I mean how long do I have to pick them up before they're spoiled somebody let me know please

My chicks are 17 weeks and no eggs yet but the signs are there...squatting and bigger, redder combs and wattles so Im following this thread Congrats to all the first eggers!

Congratulations to everyone on their first eggs! it is SOooo "egg"citing. It is is hilarious what we chicken people do when we get a first egg.
I'll tell you an inside secret.......we old timers still get excited when a new chick grows up, and lays her first egg!

If you pick up eggs daily you are fine....Winter it can be a problem with eggs freezing, you might need to collect more often. "Fresh" eggs can sit out on your counter for about two weeks and still be good. I've heard even as long as 30/60 days. I personally use up my eggs in about a week or so. If not I give them away, so that's not an issue, for me.

I wish I could hear them from my house... The coop is 1/4 a mile away, so I can't hear them! I have one more pullet that is about to start laying! I'm so excited! This will be 3/26 potential layers!

I have a gold sex link that has been laying for a week now... I have gotten 5 eggs from her in 7 days. Not bad. I think a couple others are close. I put out some oyster shell and a few them started partaking...so I figure withing the next week to two weeks I should have two more laying. One of my black sex links keeps going into the nesting area and checks out all the nest boxes and then leaves. It seems every hour to half hour she's checking them out. And when my gold sex link is laying, the other 4 hens are right there with her, waiting, watching...reminds me of girls going to the bathroom together. They crack me up. This is so much fun. Who new- lol.
