First Egg!

Well I opened up the area where the electron containing devices are and found 5 more eggs. She had been crawling through the hole in the cardboard divider for the camera. Now I don't know if I have 2 laying or she had been laying for 5 days before I found the one in the bucket. Moved the camera and put a new piece of cardboard up till I get the electron containing devices moved to the their new home outside the coop.

After watching her go in and out I need to lower the front of the roll out nest box an inch or so and move the roost back a couple of inches. The gap is a bit too far and you can see her hesitate going in.

Observation and adjustments...key chickeneering skills!

You could just add an ~1x3 in that gap.

@aart hey that's a good idea put a step in between the roost and the nest box. I originally made the front smaller but when I was testing the roll out the box was not level so I kept raising the false floor lol. Now I can lower the front a lot I think.

I'd try tacking a board across the gap first.
How big is that gap?

LOL, I got a warm egg out right after I opened up the run and figured well she is done laying for the day so I put the step in then reached in the nest box to mark a line and got a goggle goggle and low and behold I think I have 2 laying.

Step installed and I think they will like it much better now.

Wow I just got a surprise from the second layer she went from 38g to 61g today. Is that normal?

Double yolker.....not uncommon.

Two hens have been laying for 11 days now. Yesterday another one started. All the eggs are pretty small 36g-44g except for the one double yolk, is this normal?

Yes, normal.
It can take anywhere from a few weeks to more than a few months until eggs get to a 'large' size...depends on the individual bird.

I use this chart as reference:

I use 18 count cartons to get up to 24-27oz 'dozen' for sale,
so I don't have to change my price and accounting records,
I call them pullet dozens.
