First EGG

I know! I often check the eggs at the store, and "pooh pooh" them, thinking, "Mine are better! These are over a month old!"

I'm sure the rest of your hens will follow suit quickly. 20 weeks is actually pretty early! Especially for Fall.

I actually have a carton of eggs I haven’t touched bc I’ve been waiting painfully for her to lay an I told myself if by this weekend nothing I will cook them up! It’s actually only slightly changed on the temps here it’s getting darker 30-40 mins earlier but the temps for this week have been roughly 80’s. I figure with the way the others developments on maturity it could be a month before the rest lay an then it will be a lot cooler An will delay it even more! I only have 6 hens but will be adding next year because I don’t think 6 would be enough for a family of 6! However we only go through a dozen a week! I know that store eggs are poopy eggs! An I feel horrible for the chickens that some companies have to maintain their quantity!

Her egg today beside yesterday’s egg. A little smaller an the color is a little lighter.

Do any of y’all think her laying wiill entice the other to want too? Or is that just my wishful thinking lol
I like to think it encourages the others. My little Welsummer hen hung out in the coop for 3 weeks, singing the egg song with all the other hens, before she laid her first egg. (she now lays her eggs over the fence, and in the neighbor's shed, which doesn't help me at all! Dippy bird!)

Seems like she’s sharing her love with your neighbors! That’s to funny she would sing with your others! I checked the coop this evening an found a lot of my Wyandottes feathers in Annie’s favorite nesting box so maybe she’s beginning to take note on the special location of where eggs go... Well that’s what I’ll go with anyway! Lol
