First egg

First-time chicken mom here. After all the waiting & watching, slw Louise laid her first egg yesterday. I was so excited I sent a picture to almost everyone I know lol. Louise didn't lay in the nest box. She made a little indentation in the straw in corner of roost box. I found it interesting that one of the fake eggs was moved from nest box to her nest & was right next to her real egg.

What do you mean by roost "box"? How do you have your coop set up? Is it one of those little pre-fab coops?

Thank you, I never thought an egg would make me so excited. Yes, I have a little prefab coop/run with only 2 chickens. By roost box I mean where they sleep. The nest boxes (2) extend outside the roost box for easy egg retrieval.

Congrats. I would put the fake egg back in the nest where you want her to lay. Hopefully she'll get the hint and try laying there instead.

By roost box I mean where they sleep.

That would be the 'coop'.
The 'run' would be the other part down below.
Semantics maybe, but can be confusing.
