First Egg

I know you've heard it before, but...
We finally got the first egg!!!
Our Gold Laced Wyandotte, Chicken #1, was getting down to business when I happened to peek into the coop. I quickly called the kids and we all got to see the first egg laid.

Always something special about that first egg!

Your hen actually let you watch her lay? Mine get all huffy and shoot me dirty looks. If looks could kill, I'd be dead twenty times over already

We were actually out there to adjust the nest box (it kept falling on the floor of the coop) and she was on the roost. I took her out and set her on top of the wire pen, took a look at her, and thought she was acting weird - then I realized what was going on. She faced herself away from us, but didn't make a peep about anything - no cackle, no singing, nothing.
