Another egg newbie. I had two eggs today, but the second was smallest and had a little blood. I think another one of my pullets has become a hen.

Nope, she's become a layer....not hen until one year of age.I think another one of my pullets has become a hen
Thanks for the clarification. I am still learning. I was not concerned with the blood. It was not much. It was also on the first egg of my other one.Nope, she's become a layer....not hen until one year of age.
Don't worry about the blood, unless it continues.
Congrats!!
So do they always molt before they start laying? I've always read they molt. I'm seeing a lot of feathers but all of the chicks have full feathers so Im not sure I guess someone is molting. They love staying in their coop. The Bovan Browns are going through a molt right now.
Confine them to where the nests are, might be hard in the heat.Weird. I found an egg under the coop. So another layer? I wonder how to train them to use the nesting boxes
Double Yolker?Look at what one of them laid today. Compared to a large brown egg from a year old hen.
Fairy eggs usually come from older birds....your year old(s) are probably getting ready to molt.I did get a fairy egg the other day. I wonder if it was the Brahma's first
