First Egg!

I’m sure these posts get old but I got my very first egg yesterday! Myself and three of my friends all got chickens this year (I finally bought my first house last fall) and mine were the only ones that hadn’t laid yet.

I’m pretty sure it was one of my Silver Laced Wyandottes. She’s got a very bright comb and waddle and has been squatting/passed the butt bone width test for about two weeks. Two of my Jersey Giants are also squatting but I know they tend to mature slower. All six of these girls are all 20 weeks old to the day.

Even more egg-citing is that the egg was laid in the nesting box even though I still have yet to put fake eggs in it!

I don’t think these posts ever get old! I look forward to when I can post about our first egg - so everyone consider yourself warned for another first egg post!! Lol

I agree that it never gets old to hear someone's excitement when they get their first egg! It's a milestone that should be celebrated!! Congratulations and here's to more!

Never gets old for me. It’s exciting. Four of us anticipate daily on the farm how many eggs we got? We have fifteen chickens in our first coop and they just started laying. We are up to four. It’s super exciting!

Congrats! We got our first egg today and it was so exciting! I believe this one is thanks to Moira, my Barred Plymouth Rock. She's my early bloomer Mine will be 20 weeks on Monday.
