Hey guys... I got my first egg today from my 24 week old barred rocks. I went out to the nesting boxes and I found two eggs... is it possible my girl laid two eggs? Or is it more likely two of them just laid their first eggs at about the same time?

Probably two just laid at the same time. Congrats!! The first eggs are always so exciting!!

Congratulations! It's so exciting to find your chickens' first eggs :)

Is it just the way the photo looks, but is one cracked and does the other have a hole in the top?
Yes it does... I don’t think I had enough hay in the nesting boxes so they were laying directly on the ply wood... one was a little soft and the other felt normal., but they both did have cracks in the shell with nothing leaking from them

Amazon and other places sell aspen pads that fit in nesting boxes. We use sand in our coop, so these are nice for making sure the eggs don't get damaged. First eggs can sometimes look odd or be soft, but make sure one of your chickens isn't pecking eggs. We also read on BYC that boiling eggs, mashing them finely with their shells, and feeding them to pullets and hens helps make stronger eggs (or offering oyster shells, although our girls never seem to eat them).

Congrats on the first eggs!

In addition to a decent nesting material, they also need calcium to ensure strong shells and healthy hens. Make sure they have oyster shell and/or dried egg shell available on the side so that they can munch as much as needed.
