I have two RIR's that should be laying any day now. They are at 20 weeks.
I do have a Redstar hen that's two years old and lays about an egg a day. She lays like clock work between 11am and 1pm daily. However she did not lay yesterday.
I just got home from work and didn't see any new egg in the nesting box. I went into the coop to search for eggs and I found one in the corner on the ground. Its normal sized and still warm (5:45pm) The unusual thing about this egg is that it has stuff on it like powder?
So my question is, did my Redstar lay on the ground today (first time ever) or did one of my RIR's lay their first egg today?
Also the egg is about the same color as the rest of the Redstar Eggs, are RIR eggs darker?
