Got our very first egg today. Just now. One of our Isa's, we think Peglet.

7 in one week. Last Wednesday no eggs, today 2. I wonder if one of the other girls started.

WooHoo - way to go Peglet!!!! We just got our first five days ago - we are now up to two layers and a total of six eggs in the fridge, I find myself just looking at them now and then and marveling at how perfect they are, lol.

We just got our first egg today! It was a small soft egg...unfortunately my other chicks immediately popped it and took off with it. The others ate the orangish red yolk up. My first layer just kind of stood there shocked that she just did that! Is this all normal?

Congratulations on your first egg! Yes, you will find all kind of odd eggs when hens first start laying. Make sure your girls are on a good diet including laying pellets to supply extra calcium to improve shell formation.

Thanks its all so exciting! I mean I sat there and watched her shoot this egg out! I couldn't believe it! I thought maybe they were becoming aggressive towards me...lowering themselves into a squat and stompping there feet....apparently I am seen as the flock leader! I just love these girls!

It is all so amazing! We got our first egg today from our Easter Egger - trixie. She laid it some time between 6 & 7pm in the water pan they use to cool off by standing in. Someone had rearranged the nesting box straw, but maybe it was too hot. We were at 105 degrees today! Poor thing. It probably felt good to stand in that cold water and let that egg go! It a small green beauty!
