First eggs.....getting ready for the avalanche!

Hello,
My hens turned 20 weeks yesterday (the 19th) and I got my first egg today which was actually laid right in front of me! I'm not sure what type she is, I have 5, 2 of which are white and the other 3 look like the one below. They were bought from Tractor Supply store back in April at 1 week old. Does anyone know what type of hen she is? Also, how long will the eggs keep in the fridge?

Congrats!

She's a pretty girl. I don't know enough about chickens to recognize her, other than to say that she doesn't look like any of mine!

As far as eggs in the fridge go, it's a long time.....4-6 weeks at least, I would think.

That's a Red Sex Link.

Eggs will keep for quite a while. A good way to test if they are any good is to carefully put them in a glass of water. If they sink, they're good, if they float, toss them.
If they sit halfway, I use those ones for cooking and baking.

Eggs last months in the fridge.

That's a nice red sex link hen. She'll flood you with brown eggs once she hits her stride.

Leghorns are bred to lay large eggs on not much feed. They're smaller, lighter bodied than a meatier bird like a Rock.
