we have five white leg horns & five buff o that are 17 weeks old. & we have been waiting patiently for them to start laying. it finally happen we had went out of town
for the weekend when we came home we went & checked on our chickens & to our surprise we had two white eggs in side there coop but they were small
is this normal ? because its there first eggs . & will they be good to eat I thought I read where you should thow the first eggs out that the yoke might be bloody .
is this true?

Their first eggs are usually smaller and will get bigger over the next couple weeks. We ate all of our eggs and never had a problem.

2 of my 8 RIRs started laying last week and those eggs were small. I'm waiting for those eggs to start getting larger.
