First ever egg! It's perfect!

My RIR, Purple, hatched May 1st, laid her first egg today! We're so excited! Our first go with chickens so it's a big deal! I have to celebrate here because nobody outside of the chicken world understands. I'm waiting for my assistant to get home from kindergarten before we crack it.

I have to know why your chicken is named Purple.

I know it's so silly, isn't it? It was the color of her leg band. That's how I identified her from hatch. The name kind of stuck because she started to respond to it.
