Hi everyone!

This is our first time raising Chickens! It has been an amazing journey so far and BYC has been a big part of it! We hatched our chicks using an incubator and now have 12 12 day old chicks. Up until today our 12 have been very healthy however, today we noticed one of them (Goldie) had a lump under its upper eyelid. The lump is soft and with some manipulation of the eyelid I see something that resembles a small grape protruding from under the lid. Goldie is eating and drinking just fine and has lots of energy. I did try a warm compress for about 5 mins tonight and will probably to that again before I go to bed. Here are some pics...has anyone seen something like this before?

Thanks for your time and help! Pat and O'Dea

Pat, I don't know much about cysts but I wanted to stop in and say I'm another O'Dea!

He LOVES them!! He protects them from predators - he's chased hawks that have swooped at the birds and run off coyotes and even killed one!! When he's in the yard the chickens just ignore him! His name is Churchill - he's just a big friendly ham!!

So, we took Goldie to the vet! He drained the pocket of fluid under her eyelid and gave me some ointment to put on it. It has been just over 2 weeks and it has not filled back up with fluid and she is doing great!! Thanks for the suggestions!
