Thanks all! They seem to have found the nest boxes today and some are hanging out there. No eggs yet today, but their butts are a-twitchin' and they are making new sounds so I think I may have some more eggs soon. They refused to drop one with me there watching, so I am giving them some time.
For those who are waiting, I hope yours are laying real soon. These first eggs are quite small though. I hope they get bigger as the hens age.
I know I have seen it on here in a thread, but can't remember where. So, is it ok to eat the eggs if the hens are still on a ratio of the medicated and layer??? I got my first little egg on Sunday, now I have a total of 7, out of 9 hens. Not too bad.
DH was wondering if it is ok to eat the yummy eggs???? Thanks for your help!!!!
YES, it seemed like forever SpeckeledHen!!! Actually they were at about 19 weeks, so I think they were early, from what I have seen on here. But yeah, atleast I know a few of my hens are laying now. It is like a suprise for me everyday!!!!
OH, thanks for the info on the starter too, I will check that tonight when I get home. Everybody keep cool!!!!!!
OK.. we found 8 eggs so far today .. the first day. Its like Easter!!
I posted a pic on the other egg pic thread. And they too are making all kinds of noises and wiggling their butts. Very exciting.. !!! I do have a question please about the eggs. Do the speckled sussex lay speckled eggs? is that why the name? Just Curious. I saw the other pic of the speckled egg and got me thinking.
