Based on many reviews that Brinsea is among the best, I decided to go for it and get the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced. I did not get the additional humidity pump. I figured I can add it later if I need to.

I set my FIRST hatch ever at 1 p.m. today Saturday March 8th 2014. It got up to the correct temperature less than 30 min. I set 31 eggs total. 18 are shipped Swedish flower hen eggs and 13 are local black / blue / buff laced Brahma eggs. My temperature display reads 99 .3 degrees and my humidity is at 40%. From what I read this is perfectly acceptable. Wish me luck I'm excited and nervous!! I will keep this thread updated for those interested! :)

Good Luck with your hatch! SFH's are neat chickens, love the colors. Really like the Brinseas, nice incubators!

Wow! You are doing this with thirty eggs! I posted my candling pics on the Secret thread - I am going forward with all 17 at day 7 and will see what day 14 shows. Apparently the LG incubator drifts and people have had ok results with the same temperatures I am noting. My moisture loss weight is showing that it is going fine.

31 eggs!! :) We will see on day 7, over half of them where shipped from east coast to west coast so we will see!

How did the eggs look after the long shipping? Did you candle? I was pretty determined not to ship and wanted to get the full experience from egg forward.

They looked great. I did try to candle but I didn't have my candler yet so I used my cell phone light and maybe it wasn't bright enough. I also have no idea what looks normal or not. I don't think I saw cracks but againI have no experience since this is my first time. He shipped them from GA to me in CA. I got some local eggs also in case the shipped ones don't fair so well. I didn't want to be disappointed if nothing hatches. I am still nervous. I got my Titan candler today from the UK and I looked at the eggs but again I don't know if it looks normal or not normal. I am hoping day 7 I see veins then I will know something is happening until then I will don't see anything.

Hmm day 4 and I do not see much happening in the eggs. Maybe my vision is not the best to see anything yet. I try to get my hubby to help me take photos tonight.

OK day 7 incubation UPDATE: (first incubation ever)
I started with 31 eggs.

13 Brahma (LOCAL)
18 Swedish Flower Hen (SHIPPED from GA)

I took out 5 total for not developing at all (no veins) and 1 bloodring I think. There were 9 I was not sure on as I did see veins but no movement. Since I am new and this, I left those 9 in the incubator just in case. I DID see movement on 8 Brahma eggs which where the local eggs, and 6 SFH eggs which where the shipped eggs. So 14/31 not really that great. I hope I am wrong about the other 9 that have veins but no movement. Time will tell. :)
I added 2 more eggs that wouldn't fit when I first set the hatch. 1 Brahma and 1 SFH. I figured why not, they will just go to waste otherwise.
