First Hatch due to start tomorrow.

Ok, so we did not throw any eggs out yesterday, even though we thought some were duds. Now it seems that a couple of those sinkers we had in the float test yesterday are alive. Looks like we might end up with a few chicks out of this first batch. My wife is excited, and I'm somewhat relieved. I know that they were started either on the 31st or the 1st, but I'm guessing since we had trouble getting temp and humidity right and keeping it there, it has delayed everything. We shall see. We are going to keep them in a few more days and see what happens.

LOL, my wife has been watching the eggs like a hawk. She has now seen 5 eggs actually move this evening. By move, I'm mean rocking and rolling around a bit.

Lots of chirping going on and shells are opening up enough to actually see them. How long should they stay in the batorbefore moving them and what to feed them? I have grower, is that what they need?

Congratulations on your new chicks!! Allow the chicks to dry off before moving them to the brooder. Make sure they have some chick grit in with the feed and it is helpful to put some poultry vitamins in the water. I feed mine Flock Raiser from chick through hen but I think the grower should be fine if it is designed for small chicks.

If you can post some pics of your new babies, you'll have some very happy readers, me included. :wee
