SUCCESS with my first hatch ever! I've only been a chicken keeper since July and the fever has hit hard. I asked for an incubator for my birthday gift and today is HATCH DAY! I have three Easter Egger eggs in my Brinsea Mini Advance. I believe the rooster responsible is Petunia, our Barred Rock rooster (we didn't know he was going to be a rooster!)We had a Blue Splash Silkie rooster until 3 weeks ago, so...it's a toss-up as to the BabyDaddy, but by the looks of the first chick out, Petunia will be passing out cigars in the hen house tonight! Soooooo exciting! Two of the three eggs pipped around 8am this morning (on what I thought was day 20. Eggs went in on 1/22/10.?). By 12:20pm EST, our first baby hatched!!!!! Stay tuned for additional photos and further details on the other two!
And here comes "Soupy" (that's what happens when you give a 4 year old naming duty while you're eating soup!) My FIRST HATCH EVER!!
