My first Bourbon Red hatched, first ever egg. It has some gooish stuff hanging from its vent, it was 3 days early. Is that normal?

It probably has some un absorbed yoke, I had babies hatch on day 18, all had some (not a lot) of unabsorbed yoke, and all were healthy babies.

I never knew how tough it was for them until now, 10 hours of toiling and struggling

My last chick that hatched must have stepped on the remains of the yolk sac. Its vent was all bloody. So much that there were trails of blood all over the incubator.
Now, 4 days later, it is a happy healthy fuzzy baby. Don't worry.

It still isn't able to walk, I moved it to the brooder this morning and it seems very unstable on its feet.

Yes, paper towels, and when he tries to move he walks then falls then walks then falls.
