First hatch of the year.

Watch the CO2 levels in the incubator with taping the holes. I had a problem with CO2 in my incubator and ended up not having any hatches.

Wasn't able to candle today since I didn't have anyone around to help so I'll see if I candle later.

But I did a random candling before and I can attest that if the top of the egg in a still air is 104*F it will still develop however, I was able to catch my slipup in time and brought it down to 101*F just the other day.

We have a new jersey giant hen sitting on 6 eggs. They r to hatch any day. She cracked one accidently. The baby was full grown but was dead. There still was quite a bit of yoke still in the egg. Soooo sad.

Aww, sorry to hear that but the good news is your broody will still give you a better hatching ratio than an incubator.
