First hatch, would like some hand-holding, please. NOT an emergency!

You can have humidity for the last 3 days at anywhere between 60-70%. You do not need to cut the bottoms out of the egg cartons, so do not worry about that.
If you covered part of the wire bottom with a shelf liner, you could be preventing the humidity from rising in the bator any higher. I know this as I have a TX incubator and they have recently changed the wire bottom design and the holes are smaller than they used to be and the humidity is more difficult to increase so I still use the old wire bottoms.

Latest report- Temp is stable at 99 F., humidity is down to 61%, after I removed the plug and also removed the syringe from the airline tubing. If it's still high, before the 2 am bedtime I hope to get, I'll leave it out all night. If it goes down, I'll put the plug back in.

Thanks everyone for holding my hand and advising me!

Actualy haveing to go to work is a good thing or i would spend all of today hovering over the incubator. My bator is holding at 100.3 and 63% humidity. 1 out 7 to go.

Thank you all-

I have just finished reading umpteen million pages on "dry incubating" and am now officially crosseyed. Maybe next time I'll try something like that- but I want to get Delaware Blues, so I have got to get it right for them.

After all the posts, I am cautiously optimistic. And still nervous as a two-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Several minutes later, update- I figured I would take one last look, while posting this- the temp is down to 98, humidity is up to 63%! No way I can raise the temp, the room is warmer than anywhere else in the house- I took the red plug all the way out- again.

Any ideas? Besides
