I am have nervous fits alternating with moments of extraordinary calmness.

12 pips, one is starting to look like a big crack possibly becoming a zip. Per Miss Jayne and Miss Prissy, I am singing, talking and whistling to them. However.... my noises are enough to make any chick want to stay in the protection of the shell, so I have resorted to mechanical means- 2 whistles and a gen-you-wine 1950's Audubon Bird Call. Seems to help?

I just put mine in the brooder, out of the 8, 7 hatched. One died in shell. It was too big to hatch i think, it got turned around and the pip hole was covered, i think it suffocated. Another had something hangin out where it should of absorbed the yolk, its not doign to well so i have it seperated. Not to sure its gonna make it. The other 6 on the other hand are doing great and brooding with some older silkes and cochins. Now I have an addiction. But whew that bator STINKS!

THREE HATCHED! I went to the store and came home to THREE!!!

The Audubon bird call really stirs them up.

wooo hoooooo!

you can set up the brooder now so it is warm when you take the babies out. they can stay in the bator for 2-3 days, so you are fine.

chickies!
