I recently switched my flock over from a layer crumble to a 22% protein flock raiser, and they are thriving. Even the one feather picker has stopped her nasty habit. Since they are tolerating it well, I didn’t question it when I bought the second 50-pound bag Saturday. I did, however, read the ingredients and was surprised to read milo listed as #1. In the past, it was wheat. What are everyone’s thoughts on this? Good? Bad? Common? Unusual?

I'd say good. Ingredients should be varied for the best health. Feeding the same thing must get old. Variety is good. The M-G brand just lists "grain products". Varies with the season and the price. I did email and confirmed soybeans are there.

Alternative is peanuts. Be careful if you have allergies. Looking into organic labeled feed and soy free means peanuts. I was surprised.

for comparison.

Oh, that IS interesting! Their feed is BOTH organic and soy free.
