First injury in my small flock

So sad news to report. My cuckoo maran roo, Batman, didn't make it :-(
He did really well initially and the last week I had been letting him have some aupervised time back out with the ladies. I cleaned him up after the injury, and every few days following I touched up and applied ointment. While I was sure henwould never see again in the one eye, he dis well with some good food and electrolyte water. Then yesterday he got a little sluggish, and today didn't want to even eat his scrambled eggs for brekky. By this evening it was apparent he wasn't going to make it andwe had to do the humane thing.
I just don't get animals sometimes. Theyre grwat and then blam! Gone.
his didn't appear to have any kind of infection in his wounds. I kept them clean, they weren't oozy or abscessed. No fould odor, and the swelling in his eye and face had gone down and everything seemed to be closing up and feather coming back.
gr
mystery. I hate not knowing. Hell I hate not even knowing what got to him!
